Acts2 Worship Leader Responsibilities

SUMMARY
The worship leader will work closely with pastor in cultivating worship services and worship teams that help lead our congregation to see God glorified and the power of the Spirit manifest is a key priority for our church.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Planning our weekly Sunday 10:30am worship service.
    a. Create worship set list.
    b. Change out one song per week.
    c. Communicate worship set to the scheduled Sunday team by the end of the day Monday via planning center and other means if needed. Any communication to the team for Sunday must be done by Monday night. What songs, keys they are played in, beats per minute (BPM), and any special notes such as what version of the song or who leads it (for example Bethel, Elevation Worship, or Chris Tomlin). This helps the team have time to prepare.
    d. Communicate to the team if any changes are made afterwards.
    e. Schedule musicians or making sure there is a replacement if needed. This includes drums, bass, keys, singers, other song/worship leaders, and guitar players.
    f. Print out song sheets.
  2. Schedule and Lead Practice.
    a. Excellence is a major key in leading those whom God has entrusted to lead. This means everyone shows up on time, practice time is well organized, the stage and equipment is ready to go, and everything is prepared to have a successful practice by 8:45.
    b. Show up time for worship leader is 8:30 before anyone else gets there. This is to make sure he or she is ready to lead, serve, and be prepared before anyone else. It sets the stage to be an example of excellence. This helps if there is a problem and can be resolved by practice time (for example, if we do not have a sound man that day). This also attracts good musicians. If not done with excellence, excellent musicians might get frustrated or leave.
    c. Sunday morning is practice time. Since there is no practice during the week the team needs to show up on Sunday at 8:45 to work out parts that would otherwise have been worked out at a during the week rehearsal.
    d. 9:00 to 10:00 is practice time. At 10:00 the prayer team needs the sanctuary to set the atmosphere for service. Worship music from the Ipad/computer/iphone needs to be on for the prayer team and those entering the sanctuary before service between 10:00 and 10:30.
