In January of 2016 Jason and JoAnn Roth were married. God placed a strong call to missions in both of their hearts, and after their marriage, Jason felt that Saginaw was at the heart of that calling – the place, the people and the time. They bought a house and planted themselves there for the long haul.
In August 2018 they were blessed with a beautiful little girl, Ellie, who already has a testimony of her own and brings joy to all who meet her.
“We are excited about the vision God has for the Saginaw area. We want to start a church to help those in our community connect with God by the move of His Spirit. We want to create a church family atmosphere that everyone would want to be a part of, a place where people will encounter God’s presence with no hype. Acts2 Church will be a place filled with love, no matter a person’s past or where they are on their journey, a place that feels like home. We want to leave the four walls behind and take God’s love to our community through serving them – no strings attached.”
Jason was saved around age 19 – even though he wasn’t looking for God. He was on a path of darkness when God revealed Himself and he became involved in a small country church. For the next 13 years he mowed the lawn, played on the worship team, taught the word, started a life group, and served as an elder. This church had such a great impact on his life that they made him feel like he was part of a family.
Jason serves as the Lead Pastor of Acts2 Church. He oversees the everyday operations of Acts2 Church. Jason has a teaching gift to help others grow in their faith through discipleship. He will train Life Coaches and Life Group leaders to lead.
He also has musical abilities that he has invested in worship teams for over 20 years. Because of this experience, Jason knows what to look for and how to put together a good team.
EJ and Charlene LaRock have a heart for ministry. They believe in the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit and are committed to seeing people made whole through Christ and the power of prayer. EJ is currently serving as our Associate Pastor, and he and Charlene lead our prayer team each week as well.
“We believe in mentoring and want to come alongside our current and future team members to help train and equip them for times of ministry and intercession. Confidentiality is a high priority commitment of all our team members.”
JoAnn was raised in the church and saved at a very young age. At twelve years old she felt a call to the mission field and ten years later followed that call to Argentina where she spent 2 years serving the people and the church family. Upon returning home, she continued pursuing ministry opportunities, including serving as a children’s pastor, a service coordinator, a missions board member and a Life Group leader.
JoAnn has a variety of gifts that she puts to good use in serving the kids of our Acts2 Kids Ministry, and she has a passion for loving on everyone in the church, from the newest newborn to our oldest members.
She is also a talented writer and designer who handles marketing and outreach for the church, including the website, social media, print materials and church graphics.
