Summary

The Band Director will work closely with Worship Leader in cultivating worship services and worship teams that help lead our congregation to see God glorified and the power of the Spirit manifest is a key priority for our church.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Know how to lead vocalists and musicians, and a sense of calling to serve in this kind of ministry role.
2. Has as a sense of where a song is going in the Spirit. Know how to communicate to the team technical instructions to different kind of instrumentalist.
3. Have the musical ability to segue between songs, weaving them together and providing musical interludes at appropriate times for worship, so that the flow of the service is uninterrupted. Transitions.
4. Is supportive of and loyal to the Worship Leader and the church body.
5. Help the Worship Leader recruit, audition, teach, and train musicians to serve the congregation as a team with musical skill and humility.
6. Show up time for band director is 8:30 before anyone else gets there. This is to make sure he or she is ready to lead, serve, and be prepared before anyone else. It sets the stage to be an example of excellence. This helps if there is a problem and can be resolved by practice time (for example, if there is no drummer the Director will help adjust songs accordingly). This also attracts good musicians. If not done with excellence, excellent musicians might get frustrated or leave.
7. Band Director shows a servant’s heart with a motive to serve. They show care for the team and helps lead them spiritually. Also is a team player.
